Looking Further Down the Trail

Even as we focus on potential trail routes closer to the easternmost reaches of the PA Highlands Trail Network in Bucks, Northampton and Lehigh Counties -- discussions are taking place about routes further west in Berks, Chester, Lebanon, and Lancaster Counties.

Yesterday we visited St. Peters Village to discuss trails with one of our planning partners (Natural Lands Trust) within the Hopewell Big Woods of the Schuylkill Highlands Conservation Landscape. This beautiful landscape includes the Horse-Shoe Trail, which is certain to be a co-aligned route for the PA Highlands Trail as it makes its way west towards the Susquehanna, and ultimately the Maryland Border. Over the next year we will continue exploring trail route possibilities with the National Park Service, Schuylkill River National Heritage Area, and other organizations.
